Author Biography
Munshi Premchand (1880–1936), whose real name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastava, was a famous Indian Hindi and Urdu writer. He was born on 31 July 1880 in Lamhi, Varanasi. His writings focused on poverty, social inequality, farmers, and ordinary people. His famous works include Godaan, Gaban, Nirmala, Kafan, and Idgah. He is considered one of the greatest writers of modern Hindi literature.
