Khushwant Singh
1 Published Bookhushwant Singh (1915–2014) was one of India's best-known writers, journalists and columnists. Born in Hadali, Punjab (now in Pakistan), he studied at Government College, Lahore and later pursued legal studies in London. He worked as a lawyer, diplomat and journalist before becoming a prominent literary figure. He edited publications including The Illustrated Weekly of India, National Herald and Hindustan Times, and also founded/edited Yojana. He is best known for novels such as Train to Pakistan, Delhi and The Company of Women, as well as the two-volume A History of the Sikhs and his autobiography Truth, Love and a Little Malice. He received the Padma Vibhushan in 2007 and several other literary and public awards.
Munshi Premchand
2 Published BooksMunshi Premchand (1880–1936), whose real name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastava, was a famous Indian Hindi and Urdu writer. He was born on 31 July 1880 in Lamhi, Varanasi. His writings focused on poverty, social inequality, farmers, and ordinary people. His famous works include Godaan, Gaban, Nirmala, Kafan, and Idgah. He is considered one of the greatest writers of modern Hindi literature.
R. K. Narayan
