Author Biography
hushwant Singh (1915–2014) was one of India's best-known writers, journalists and columnists. Born in Hadali, Punjab (now in Pakistan), he studied at Government College, Lahore and later pursued legal studies in London. He worked as a lawyer, diplomat and journalist before becoming a prominent literary figure. He edited publications including The Illustrated Weekly of India, National Herald and Hindustan Times, and also founded/edited Yojana.
He is best known for novels such as Train to Pakistan, Delhi and The Company of Women, as well as the two-volume A History of the Sikhs and his autobiography Truth, Love and a Little Malice. He received the Padma Vibhushan in 2007 and several other literary and public awards.
